The Discipline of Food

Did you know that what you eat can impact your energy, the quality of your sleep, the amount of pain in your body, your digestion and elimination and even your menopausal symptoms?

Most people do not know the power that food has to change their health. When it comes to food, people can be really intrenched about what they will and will not give up.  I started out that way more than 25 years ago and, with time and patience, I have completely changed my diet.

I have been practicing for over 16 years and I can’t tell you how often my practice members have walked in stating, “I will not give up _______ food.”  Do you see a little bit of yourself in that statement?

Discipline is our theme for the month, Discipline creates a sweet life. Discipline is an activity, exercise, or a regimen that develops or improves a skill. Another definition is training.  This is a very positive trait to develop in your life.

When you apply discipline to your food choices, you can completely change your health.  Here is an example of how becoming disciplined with your food choices matters. Ms. Glichrist came into my office because she was experiencing knee pain severe enough to stop her ability to exercise.  She loves to exercise, to dance specifically, and her inability to exercise was causing her blood sugars and cholesterol to begin to move in the wrong direction. She also used exercise to manage her stress, so without it she was feeling more stressed than usual.  We talked about how part of her plan required some dietary changes, She wasn’t happy about it but she will willing to try it. After a few months she shared this testimonial with us.

She found that having the discipline of food in her life gave her back her life and her health. It has been worth it for her.  Like she says, “It works!”

If you have been searching for a solution to your health and you haven’t been able to figure it out on your own, for many years, it's time to get help.  I encourage you to have the discipline to call our office and find out what you can do to become successful in your health. We create plans that work, just ask Ms. Gilchrist!
