When I was in my twenties, I was fortunate enough to participate in a powerful workshop called WomenPower. I learned so much about the healing power of the feminine in those workshops. One of the most healing feminine superpowers is the power of receiving! In honor of Mother’s Day, I thought I would share a story about learning to receive.
One of the rules of the Women Power Workshop is that any women that is menstruating during the workshop weekend had sit in the receiving chair and receive from everyone else during the weekend. Anything that the woman wanted, she had to ask for and receive.
One weekend, I had the honor of sitting in the receiving chair. During the lunch, I had to sit & be served lunch. I was not allowed to go into the kitchen. I had to sit in the chair and wait to receive my lunch. If I wanted a tissue, I had to wait for someone to hand me a tissue. Over and over again, I had to receive.
While that might seem awesome to being waited on hand and foot, as a type A personality, it was one of the most challenging experiences of my life. It was so hard! My inner voice was yelling at me to just get up and do it all. This is an exhausting way to live.
It taught me about how much time I spend giving and how little time I spend receiving. It opened my eyes to how receiving is a skill that needs to be practiced. Learning to let people give to me has been such a loving journey! I am so much better at receiving but I still am working on it. A reminder again to be open to receive the sweet life, the theme for this month.
Take a moment and be honest about how good are you at receiving. If you are a mom, watch how you receive during this weekend's Mother’s Day celebration.
Why am I spending all this time focused on receiving? Because, when it comes to our health receiving is one of the most important things you can do. If you don’t have the health you deserve or the health that you want, receiving the tools on how to get healthy and learning how to use them makes all the difference between succeeding in your health goals or failing again.
We mentor people into health all the time. It is one of our greatest accomplishments of our practice. If you want to learn more, come to one of our dinner presentations or orientation sessions. Call the office to schedule 202-681-0705.
To Your One Sweet Life,
