When I was younger, people diagnosed with diabetes often referred to it as “having sugar.” It was a common phrase that everyone understood, and many accepted diabetes as a condition they simply had to live with. I’m here to tell you that living with diabetes is not acceptable; it is dangerous and can be deadly.
November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and as we reflect on gratitude and thanksgiving, I encourage you to appreciate your health now and in the future. Wouldn’t you be thankful for the opportunity to change your health and potentially reverse your diabetes?
The reality is that diabetes is more than just an issue with sugar. It affects your body’s ability to metabolize food properly and often coexists with other serious conditions like high cholesterol, hypertension, obesity, and heart disease. In fact, diabetes can set the stage for even more health complications down the line.
Unfortunately, many individuals do not manage their diabetes effectively. They often dismiss it, thinking, “I’ll eat better tomorrow or next week.” These are the same people who, 10 to 20 years later, may face severe consequences like amputations or the need for dialysis three times a week. If you don’t take charge of your health now, you may be forced to deal with the repercussions later—and by then, it might be too late!
Diabetes often begins with minor symptoms that seem inconvenient but can escalate into issues you learn to tolerate. It can leave you feeling perpetually hungry and enslaved by sugar cravings. It contributes to fatigue, disrupts sleep patterns, and increases susceptibility to colds and flu. It can worsen arthritis pain, disrupt your digestive system, and even reduce fertility options. Have you noticed any of these symptoms? Or have you simply attributed them to aging?
I have mentored hundreds of individuals in reversing their diabetes and pre-diabetes back to normal levels. This success comes from a systematic and holistic approach to diabetes, rather than relying solely on medications to mask symptoms.
Would you like to be one of those individuals who safely and healthily weans off blood sugar medications?
